After a record-breaking sales month for BMW in December, January sales continue showing growth as data was made available for the first month in 2013. At Fields BMW Northfield, this comes as no surprise as customers have responded very well to the latest BMW models out on the market.


The BMW Group in the U.S. reported sales of 20,195 vehicles in the month of January, reflecting a 2.3% overall increase over sales from the same period one year ago. When broken out by group, BMW brand sales increased 0.7% and BMW Motorcycle sales were up 9.7%.



The vehicles driving most of the sales in January were the highly popular BMW X3, X6, and 2013 BMW X5. Chicago drivers love the versatility these light trucks provide. The BMW X3 boasted sales of 2,005 units, an 18.9% increase over last year, whereas the BMW X5 had sales up 56.5% (4,084 units) and the X6 sold 380 units, up 34.8%.


New vehicles were not the only BMW models driving off the lots in January; BMW pre-owned vehicles were also highly sought after. In January, sales of pre-owned BMW vehicles increased almost 14% (compared to January 2012) to 13,322 vehicles.
