"We regularly identify apps that our owners rely on as part of their everyday life, and adapt them for an in-vehicle experience they'll find safe, useful and engaging," said Phil Johnston, Product Manager for the BMW Group Apps Platform from the BMW Group Technology Office
These new apps include: Audible, Glympse, Rhapsody, and
TuneIn. Here is a brief summary of what you can expect from each of these new
apps.
Audible is a downloadable audio books and other
spoken-word content app. Users will have access to thousands of audio programs
which include everything from magazine and newspaper publishers to audiobooks.
What will be unique in BMW Apps is that drivers will be able to access their
libraries through the BMW iDrive controls and display, making audiobook listening
in your BMW a very simple task.
Glympse is a location sharing app that
allows you to share your location and ETA in a much safer way utilizing GPS
technology without ever having to pick up your cell phone.
One of the main reasons we use our
iPhones is to access music. Both Rhapsody and TuneIn help to increase your
access to your favorite music and Internet radio. Rhapsody is a subscription
music service that is ad-free and allows you to access over 16 million
different tracks.
TuneIn will give BMW drivers access to thousands of music radio stations including live sports, news and talk shows from around the globe.
As you can see, the way you use your iPhone will now be integrated into the BMW Apps option, helping you seamlessly go from using your iPhone and your favorite apps at home to being able to access and use them while on the go in your BMW. Chicago drivers will absolutely be able to reap the benefits of this latest collaboration. Available since the 2011 model year vehicles, BMW continues to work on keeping its drivers connected to their iPhones in a safe and simple manner.
