Last month at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, BMW was proud to learn that their all-electric vehicle, the 2015 BMW i3, had been named the 2015 Green Car of the Year winner! As the first all-electric vehicle in the premium segment, it was a huge honor to be recognized for all the hard work that went into producing such an environmentally friendly vehicle! Since its introduction to the market in November 2013, more than 12,000 models have been sold worldwide, making it clear that it is now possible to successfully combine zero tailpipe emissions with premium-class driving pleasure!
The 2015 Green Car of the Year Award adds to the list of awards that the 2015 BMW i3 has received worldwide, including the Green Mobility Trophy 2014 and the Auto Trophy 2013 as well as UK Car of the Year Award, the Next Green Car Award, and more! The 125 kW/170 horsepower electric motor, which offers highly responsive acceleration is a large part of what has made the i3 so successful. The evaluation of the i3 by the Green Car Journal was based on the zero emissions at the point of use, its innovative and lightweight design, and the high percentage of sustainably produced materials in its manufacture.
