The 2014 BMW 328i is a trim level in the BMW 3 Series line,
and it comes in two different body styles: sedan and wagon.
What comes under the
hood?
It comes powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder
engine that makes 240 horsepower and 255 pound-foot of torque. Sedan models
come with either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic,
while wagon model can only be fitted with the eight-speed automatic. Models
equipped with the automatic can come with a Sport or M Sport package that have
a “sport” version of the transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters. The
xDrive indicates that it comes standard with all-wheel drive.
How is the fuel
economy?
Great! The EPA estimates that it will average 23/35 mpg,
city and highway. Regardless of transmission, it comes with an automatic
stop-start function that will turn off the engine when the car stops in order
to save fuel.
Is it a safe car to
drive?
Yes! In testing done by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, it scored
the highest score of Good in the moderate overlap frontal offset, side-impact,
roof strength, and rear crash protections tests. The National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration awarded it a perfect 5-Star Overall Rating, as well as
perfect five-star ratings in side and rollover crash tests.
How are the standard
features?
Great! It comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels,
automatic headlights, foglights, automatic wipers, cruise control, dual-zone
automatic climate control, eight-way manually adjustable front seats,
leatherette premium vinyl upholstery, wood trim, a leather-wrapped
tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a trip computer, Bluetooth, the iDrive
electronics interface, and a 6.5-inch touch screen display and a premium sound
system.
