The Sports Activity Vehicle features the company’s award-winning 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine that comes paired to an electric motor that is powered by a lithium ion battery. The plug-in hybrid comes paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. BMW expects the hybrid engine to produce a combined output of 308 horsepower and 332 pound-foot of torque. In industry testing, the 2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e accelerates from zero to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds. The EPA is estimating that it will average 55 MPGe.

BMW expects the 2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e will arrive at U.S. dealership in the fall of 2015. This model will be the very first plug-in hybrid model from the BMW brand and the brand is excited as it combines the versatility and luxury of a full-sized Sports Activity Vehicle with the same traction of a gasoline-powered BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive vehicle. It also benefits from the BMW EfficientDynamics eDrive technology that offers exemplary efficiency. The eDrive technology provides drivers with efficient and impressive performance while also allowing for the potential of all-electric mobility with zero tailpipe emissions. This combination ushers in a whole new era for the sports activity vehicle, and here at your Northfield BMW dealership, Fields BMW Northfield, we could not be more excited to be a part of the team!
