Keep reading to find out more about the 2017 BMW 330e iPerformance, which will be hitting dealership lots in Summer 2016!
Key ingredients to creating this sporty and efficient sedan include an intelligent lightweight design, outstanding aerodynamics, and extensive use of the BMW EfficientDynamics technology. The 2017 BMW 330e iPerformance features a plug-in hybrid powetrain that takes from both the i3 hatchback and the i8 supercar. It combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission with an electric motor/generator that puts out 87 horsepower and 74 lb-ft of torque. It also comes with a 7.6-kWh lithium-ion battery that is located in the trunk. Combined output of the powertrain should amount to 248 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. BMW estimates that it will take 2.5 hours to fully charge at a 240-volt station, while it’ll be a bit longer at six to seven hours on a 120-volt household plug.
Drivers will have the option of three selectable driving modes: Auto eDrive, Max eDrive, and Save Battery. These driving modes will let the driver take command from the navigation system. The Max eDrive mode will allow full electric driving at up to 75 mph, while Save Battery will charge and maintain the battery at 50%, and in turn, will significantly reduce fuel economy. The standard BMW driving modes of Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ will also be on hand to give drivers the ability to tweak throttle and steering responses.
