There will be several new BMW iPerformance models and BMW technologies on display at the Los Angeles Auto Show, including the BMW 740e xDrive, BMW 330e, and the BMW X5 xDrive40e. The BMW eDrive technology ranges from the BMW i models to the BMW core gasoline engines to electric motors, battery cells, and electronic control systems. The BMW 740e xDrive I Performance is the BMW brand’s flagship plug-in hybrid model that offers all the comfort and technology that comes with the engaging and dynamic 2017 BMW 7 Series along with the virtues of electric, locally emission-free mobility. It comes powered by a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine with the BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and an electric motor that all comes paired to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. The gasoline engine and electric motor combine for a total system output of 322 horsepower.
The BMW 330e iPerformance is a plug-in hybrid that uses an electric motor along with the inline four-cylinder engine that results in an output of 248 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. In industry testing, it accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds.
