In order to earn the Top Safety Pick+ designation, a vehicle must earn the top rating of “Good” in a series of crash tests. The five crash tests are the small overlap frontal offset, moderate overlap frontal offset, side impact, roof strength, and rear crash performance/head restraints. It also must earn a Superior or Advanced rating in front crash prevention systems and technologies, and new for the 2017 year, it must earn a Good in “headlight performance.” The 2017 BMW 5 Series passed those tests with flying colors as it earned a Good in all five crash tests as well as for its headlights performance, and it earned a Superior in frontal crash prevention scores.

The 2017 BMW 5 Series only builds on the success of previous generations as it incorporates a spacious and comfortable interior, increased efficiency, and a wide range of advanced automotive technologies. It also features a number of driver assistance technologies that will help drivers feel confident and relaxed behind the wheel. Some of these features include Dynamic Stability Control, Brake Dry Assist, Cornering Brake Control and Dynamic Traction Control, while optional features may include Blind Spot Detection, Daytime Pedestrian Protection, Lane Departure Warning, Active Lane Keeping Assist and more!
