An Overview of BMW Digital Key Plus
BMW Digital Key Plus turns a compatible smartphone or smartwatch into a digital vehicle key, so you don't need to take your device out of your pocket or bag. Using Ultra-Wideband technology, your BMW can recognize your device as you approach, automatically unlock the vehicle, and lock it again as you walk away. After getting inside, simply press the START/STOP button to start your BMW without placing your phone in the wireless charging tray.
You can also share BMW Digital Key Plus with up to 18 friends or family members, making it convenient to provide vehicle access without handing over a physical key. BMW Digital Key Plus can also work with compatible smartwatches, giving you another convenient way to unlock and start your vehicle without reaching for a traditional key.
How to Use BMW Digital Key Plus
To set up BMW Digital Key Plus, you'll need a compatible smartphone, a BMW ID linked to your vehicle, and the My BMW App. From the app, select the Digital Key Plus setup option and follow the instructions provided on your smartphone and your vehicle's control display.
Depending on your BMW and its equipment, setup may require both physical vehicle keys or a physical key and BMW Digital Key Setup Card inside the vehicle. Once pairing is complete, your Digital Key Plus is securely stored in your smartphone's Wallet. Keep your physical keys and Setup Card, if equipped, in a safe place after completing the process.
